When our darling rescue terrier Nellie ran off ten minutes after we brought her home, Waggytail Rescue told us to post immediately on LostMyDoggie.com. I did so, and we got so much support from the community. It helped me a great deal to know other people were looking for Nellie as well. In the end, she was found 24 hours later over 2 1/2 miles away when she walked into someone's yard and, exhausted, pretty much turned herself in. So although it wasn't the result of my posting online and hanging posters all over town, the LostMyDoggie.com provided tremendous moral support!
